Nothing quite says summer like a fantastic car show. It may not be summer yet, but early next month, you can kick off the warm weather by heading out to the 3rd Annual Flying Tigers Car Show. It will be held April 7th at the SOWELA Technical Community College Regional Training Center. You can be sure that many of us here at Nissan of Lake Charles will be going.
This show is guaranteed to be fun for the whole family. Vehicles from a wide range of makes will be on display, ranging from classics to modern hot rods. Furthermore, there will be first responder vehicles to look at and explore along with food vendors and car show awards.
If your kids are feeling squirrelly, take them to the Kids Zone. There, they can burn off some of their energy in the bounce houses, run some remote control car races, participate in an Easter egg hunt, and complete some crafts.
Tickets to the event cost $5 per person and children 12 and under are free. If you want to show your vehicle, early-bird registration costs $30. It is $35 the day of the show. The first 100 registered vehicles will receive a goody bag. All money raised from the car show will go towards scholarship awards and enhancement funds for the college.
Don’t miss your chance to participate in your community while simultaneously celebrating your love of all things automotive.
It’s almost upon us: the time of year where we celebrate our Irish-American heritage—or pretend to be Irish – with some tasty food, drinks, and revelry. This year, celebrate St. Patrick’s Day right by taking part in some festive St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Lake Charles. Here are few suggestions from us at Nissan of Lake Charles on where to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
7th Annual St. Paddy’s Day Festival at MacFarlane’s Celtic Pub
Head to MacFarlane’s Celtic Pub in downtown Lake Charles for a full day of festive fun. The pub will offer breakfast at 5:30am, followed by a day of traditional Irish food, drink, games, and entertainment.
In addition to this event, check out the offerings at your favorite local bars and restaurants, as most will be offering St. Patrick’s Day specials on Irish beer, whiskey, and food.
Annual Athletes Corner St. Patrick’s Day 3-Miler
Any runners out there? Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a 3-mile run. You’ll get a fun t-shirt and top finishers will get prizes.
St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock at The Children’s Museum
Like last year, it’s expected that The Children’s Museum will run some fun and creative programing for children this St. Patrick’s Day. For instance, they will most likely have some St. Paddy’s-themed art projects, and a “Luck of the Irish” Scavenger Hunt as they have held in past years.
Keep your eye out for announcements, and enjoy your St. Patrick’s Day!
Even if you live in a hot area like LA, it’s important to have routine maintenance done on your car, and the seasons are a good way to schedule around it. So for all you LA residents, here’s a list of winter car maintenance tasks you should get done this season.
This is a good time to get an oil change, for one. Oil changes should be done about twice a year depending on your car and your driving habits, and before winter is a good time—maybe you’ll be traveling somewhere cold for the holidays and need that fresh, clean oil.
Another good thing to do is replace your air filters. This helps your heating and cooling system work better, but even if you’re not using those, it’s just better for your car. This also goes for flushing and refilling the cooling system.
Check your tire pressure. You won’t experience the same drop in pressure that people living in colder climates do, but any change in air temperature can have an effect. Having the right tire pressure is important year-round.
Call us today at Nissan of Lake Charles for more winter car maintenance tips, or find out about our exciting lineup with cars that are perfect for LA driving.
When you’re traveling on Thanksgiving, you could be going as far away as across the country or staying in your hometown. But whether you’re driving five miles or five hundred, you should always practice safe driving, and holidays are some of the most dangerous driving times of the year. Here are some tips for driving on Thanksgiving that will help you have a safe, relaxing holiday.
One thing you should make sure to do if you’re traveling long distance is inspect your car before you leave and make sure your fluids are at the right level, your lights are all working, and your tire pressure is where it’s supposed to be. A holiday is a pretty terrible day to have a breakdown.
Another thing you should do is prepare the inside of the car for the trip—make sure the GPS is programmed with the address you’re going to, snacks and games and other kid-distracting supplies are in reach, and that your luggage isn’t higher than your vehicle’s weight capacity.
Finally, when you’re actually driving, it’s important to have patience, especially because the traffic will probably be slow. Driving while angry is almost as bad as distracted driving, so don’t let yourself get mad. And keep your hands off your phone as much as possible!
These are just a few tips you can follow for safer Thanksgiving driving. Give us a call today at Nissan of Lake Charles for more, or to find the perfect Nissan vehicle for you to take on your Thanksgiving road trip.
The next-generation Nissan Frontier will be entering production fairly soon. The Nissan production facility in Canton, Mississippi was chosen to produce the midsize pickup. While there were plenty of production facilities able to produce the pickup, Nissan Canton was chosen due to its history with the Nissan Frontier.
The current-generation Nissan Frontier dates back to 2005, making it one of the oldest designs in the industry. While the styling is still fairly modern, the brand recently confirmed that a next-generation Nissan Frontier is in the works.
The Nissan Canton production facility currently builds the Nissan Titan and several other vehicles. The Nissan Frontier will be built alongside the full-size pickup. The automaker hasn’t revealed much about the truck, but details will become available as the truck’s release date approaches.
“We’ve got a very hard working and engaged workforce. We’ve got a wonderful state-of-the-art facility and Canton was the natural choice. We worked really hard to win this business,” said Steve Marsh, Nissan Canton VP of manufacturing.
The 2018 Nissan Frontier will see the addition of a Midnight Edition to its line. The Nissan Frontier Midnight Edition includes black wheels, side mirrors, and step rails. The Midnight Edition model is also available in Glacier White.
We here at Nissan of Lake Charles can’t wait to see the next-generation Nissan Frontier in person!

Emergencies happen, just as accidents do. That’s why it pays to keep an emergency kit in your vehicle. But when you’re driving a small sedan, you don’t have much space for tools that might really come in handy later. That’s one reason why a spacious SUV like the Nissan Armada is ideal for family travel. Not only is there plenty of room for your emergency kit, but there’s also lots of space left over for cargo like bicycles, sporting equipment, or extra passengers. When thinking about things to pack in your SUV, here are five things you should always keep in the back of your Nissan Armada SUV.
Having a shovel on hand can save you from getting stuck at work, school, or elsewhere in a snowstorm.
Water and Snacks
Keeping bottled water and non-perishable snacks on hand will come in handy in nearly all emergency situations.
Cat litter actually serves as the perfect, lightweight tool for traction if your SUV gets stuck.
Tow Strap or Tow Rope
A Nissan Armada from Nissan of Lake Charles can tow up to 8,500, but that’s not helpful if you don’t have the correct strap to handle the job.
It may seem just a little excessive, but if you or someone around you happens to need a fire extinguisher at some point, you’ll be grateful you have it at the ready.
There are a lot of great things that come with the fall season—apple cider, Halloween parties, hayrides, and plenty of sports. There are a plethora of sporting events in Lake Charles near Nissan of Lake Charles. This time of year our Lake Charles customers are always tailgating in their Nissan Titan before an LSU football game, or taking their team to a football game in the Nissan Armada. Check out this brief listing of local sporting events in Lake Charles that you won’t want to miss.
Lake Charles College Prep Football Schedule
Our local charter school starts their season in September with an away game on the 1st against Pickering from Leesville, LA. Their first home game will be on September 14th against
Northside from Lafayette, LA, and multiple other home and away games will follow, ending with an away game at Jennings High School on November 3rd. Make a point of supporting your local young football players this fall.
Who in Lake Charles doesn’t love a good LSU game? The LSU football team has an exciting schedule, starting with a matchup with BYU (Houston) on September 2nd and including games against Arkansas, Florida, and Texas A&M. Get in the fall spirit by heading out to an LSU football game this season.
You’ve got the truck, now what will you need to go with it? There are plenty of ways to amp up your pickup, adding more personality, more capability, or whatever you’d like. Here are some must-haves on the list of possible accessories for your truck.
Truck Bed Extender
When you’re in need of some extra room in the bed of your pickup, it’s helpful to have a truck bed extender handy. This accessory allows you leave the tailgate open and to support long items that would otherwise hang free out the back of your bed.
Tie Down Straps and Tow Hooks
If you recently purchased a Nissan Frontier® or a Nissan Titan® from Nissan of Lake Charles, you likely have plans to carry plenty of cargo, and for that purpose you will need the straps and hooks to make it possible. Owning a sturdy set of tie down straps is imperative when carrying heavy loads safely.
Loading that lawnmower or your family’s off-road recreational vehicle just got a whole lot easier, thanks to a helpful loading ramp accessory.
Speaking of off-roading, having a winch on hand is extremely helpful should a vehicle get stuck in the mud. You can also use a winch to help carry the extra heavy loads. When it comes to getting the most out of your truck, anything that can offer extra power and performance does right by our standards.
Thinking about stepping up into a pickup for the first time? There are tons of great reasons to own a truck, as any truck owner can attest to. If you’re considering making the change from car or SUV to truck, take a look at some of our favorite reasons from Nissan of Lake Charles. They may just persuade you.
Most trucks are equipped with all-wheel drive and large ground clearances, so these big vehicles have no trouble tackling some tough terrain. When you own a truck, things like camping become a whole new adventure.
Moving is Simple
You’ll never have to rent a U-Haul again. Just be ready to lend a helping hand when your friends and family have their moving days!
Today’s pickups, whether lightweight or heavy duty, boast some seriously powerful engines with high horsepower. As a result, not only will you have no trouble hauling and carrying big cargo, but you’ll also have a fun driving experience every time.
Bad Weather, No Problem
Just as trucks can handle off-roading like champions, they can also tackle snow, rain, and other bad weather with ease.
Today’s trucks come in plenty of sizes and configurations. You can get a truck as luxurious as a fancy SUV, or one that’s equipped with as many safety features as you’d find in a small car. With so many options, it’s easy to find a truck that’s sure to keep you happy in the long run.
