Free track time has become a major part of an auto enthusiast’s decision to purchase a performance-driven car, and now Nissan is jumping on board. Drivers who choose to get behind the wheel of a new Nissan GT-R will see free track time at the Virginia International Raceway. Even better, instructors will tutor drivers how to make the most of their car.
The new Nissan GT-R comes at an $8,000 increase over the previous model. That’s a substantial amount, but considering the changes it’s totally worth it! The titanium exhaust, which costs near $13,000 and the added track time, a $2,000 add-on, it’s a pretty sweet deal. The free track time applies to models purchased between November 14, 2016, and March 31, 2017.
GT-R owners can get behind the wheel and take on the Virginia International Raceway’s complicated configurations with an instructor. As you would expect, hitting the track will not void the GT-R’s factory warranty.
Owners will have to provide their own food, lodging, and transportation. Considering drivers will need to provide their own GT-R, transportation won’t be much of an issue.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the NISMO performance brand of vehicle is getting the same track-time treatment – yet.
We here at Nissan of Lake Charles are happy to see drivers getting such an incredible deal on an even more incredible car!
Nissan has just smashed the Guinness World Record for the fastest drift with a 190 mph, 30-degree drift in a modified Nissan GT-R NISMO. There’s a reason they call it a power slide, and this drift has plenty of power.
The GT-R NISMO was tuned to crank out a massive 1,380 horsepower, which is more than double the regular GT-R NISMO you can find at Nissan of Lake Charles. And at 600 horsepower, that one’s no slouch either.
If that wasn’t enough, all of the power goes to the rear wheels only. After getting up to speed on a 1.86-mile runway at the United Arab Emirate’s Fujairah International Airport, the GT-R NISMO went into a full, 190 mph drift. Of course, even the best car requires a driver, and keeping it all together behind the wheel was none other than Japanese drift champion Masata Kawabata.
What’s more impressive than the new record is just how thoroughly it destroyed the previous one (held at 135 mph), and in only just three attempts per Guinness’ rules!
Watch the video below and tell us what you think about this incredible feat at Nissan of Lake Charles, located in the heart of Cajun country in Lake Charles, LA.
Nissan is surging to the lead in racing transparency with a digital behind the scenes tour. More to the point – it is a series of videos that brings the viewer alongside some of the best Nissan engineers, drivers, and managers to see the race process from the inside. We are referring to the Nissan Race Team Videos.
“We want to provide an experience akin to being in the dugout at Yankee Stadium of a baseball game, or on the sideline with a manager in the Champions League of soccer,” says Nissan’s announcement of the videos.
This year marks the return to Le Mans 24 Hour Prototype racing for Team Nissan and their high tech racecar takes center-stage in the videos, which cover topics ranging from the difference between endurance and sprint racing, to the importance of lubricants and cooling fluids.
This “Nissan University” experience seeks to familiarize ordinary car drivers with the highest levels of racing technology and point out how Nissan is drawing from its race experience in their line of consumer cars. Check out the Nissan Race Team videos and learn how the ultra-high tech race cars are related to our cars at Nissan of Lake Charles.
Here’s the story: Nissan challenged Adam Levine, lead singer of pop band Maroon 5. The automaker said Levine couldn’t sing while being driven around at breakneck speeds in the Nissan GT-R. He took them up on the offer.
In the Nissan GT-R test drive video that resulted, Adam starts out sounding good, singing the first few lines to Maroon 5’s hit single, “Sugar.” He maintains control during the first burnout. However, as soon as the GT-R gets into motion, Adam can’t help but yelp a little.
For the first half of the ride, Adam manages to stay focused, though his vocal performance is peppered with nervous laughter and also the occasional howl of delight. Pretty soon, the speed and tight handling of the GT-R immobilizes his voice and he can only utter a lyric here or there. Eventually, he explicitly concedes, “I don’t even care about singing anymore. I’m just going to enjoy this!” His face is lit up with delight. At the end of the ride, he says, “I want to do it again!”
We here at Nissan of Lake Charles are sure this is what you would say if you test drive any of the great new Nissan models on our lot.
The Nissan GT-R is well known worldwide for its power and speed, something Nissan prides itself in. And with every new model released, Nissan still tries to shove more and more horses under the hood. After deciding to use the Nissan GT-R as a brand image for its performance segments, it was widely expected that a Nismo (Nissan’s racing segment) branded GT-R would be coming soon. Luckily for us here at Nissan of Lake Charles, and for our readers, some initial information has been leaked!
Earlier this year there was a lot of people talking about the Nissan Super GT-R, but Top Gear recently released that Nismo was going to be improving the GT-R’s power, handling, and styling. The current Nissan GT-R is already a fan favorite among Nissan fans but these upgrades are going to leave them drooling on the pavement! With these upgrades, the Super GT-R is expected to increase horsepower from 545 to nearly 570 and (according to Top Gear experts) an eye popping ring lap time of seven minutes and 22 seconds! The Nissan GT-R has been a fan favorite when it comes to roadsters. There’s not a lot that will keep our Nissan GT-R fans from running out and picking up the next year’s model, but this year their pockets might take a slightly bigger hit than usual. Nissan announced it’s pricing for the model year 2014 Nissan GT-R not too long ago. The 2014 Nissan GT-R Premium will hit a new high MSRP of $99,590 with the GT-R Black Edition reach upwards of $109,300 and the Special edition, limited production, track edition maxing out at $115,710.
Although these price increases may seem steep to some, Nissan considers the 2014 Nissan GT-R Track Edition is the most exclusive model, with its limited production only reach 150 models for the U.S. market. With solid black 6spoke tires, Damp Tronic shocks, carbon fiber rear spoiler, and a slew of other top of the line updates, our experts at Nissan of Lake Charles have no trouble believe the limited edition2014 Nissan GT-R Track Edition is well worth the price increase. If you’d like to learn more about the Track Edition, possibly in hopes of getting your hands on one, feel free to check out the brief overview at autoblog.com!
Rumors are circulating that the 2015 Nissan GT -R will receive an upgraded seven speed dual clutch transmission instead of the standard six speed dual clutch. As stated these are simply rumors as of right now, but an “inside source” at Nissan revealed the new Nissan GT-R concept to a GT channel early last week.
Despite the far off release date, increased speed transmissions are becoming the new trend for new models. Models like the Range Rover Evoque recently debuted with a ZF 9-Speed transmission. Also, Chrysler will be introducing the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee at the New York Auto Show later this week which will sport the first ever nine speed automatic transmission in the US market.
Will the new transmission, Nissan is hoping the new 2015 Nissan GT-R will top off at 2.7 seconds going from zero to 60 miles per hour. Many of the top engineers are also expecting to top their old lap time at the Nurburgring, hoping for a 7 min 15 sec start to finish time.
We here at Nissan of Lake Charles are excited for the new changes coming to the Nissan GT-R. With new changes come stronger competition and a continued effort to make Nissan cars the best cars out there! Check out our website for more information on any of our fantastic Nissan models!
