Nissan 370Z Successor in the Works

2016 Nissan 370ZFor months now, rumor mills and industry experts alike have been leaning back and forth on whether there will be a Nissan 370Z successor. The popular sports car has not had a new iteration since 2009, leading many to believe there may not even be a next-generation model. However, in a recent magazine interview, the chief product specialist for Nismo, Hiroshi Tamura, confirmed that work on a new Z car in underway.

The fanfare over a possible new generation of the Z sports car family exploded once again this past September, when Nissan unveiled the Gripz concept crossover at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Gripz concept boasted a Z badge, causing many to believe that Nissan would be replacing the 370Z sports car with an endeavor into the sport SUV segment. What do you think of the Gripz concept?

Tamura squashed these rumors while speaking to Australian publication Motoring, stating that the Gripz concept will not succeed the 370Z and hinting that a new member of the Z family is in the works.

The Nissan 370Z successor, as well as the Gripz crossover, is still built on the same platform, however, meaning that the next-generation Z car and the Gripz will have many of the same capabilities and features, in addition to a similar performance.  Tell us what you think about a new Z SUV for Nissan here at Nissan of Lake Charles!
