The all-new 2013 Nissan LEAF, available here at Nissan of Lake Charles, has been creating quite the buzz in recent months. Its newest accolade is the Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which recognized the LEAF as one of the safest vehicles on the market after four passenger safety tests—front, side, rollover, and rear crash simulations.
“Driver and passenger safety are top priorities for Nissan and the ‘Top Safety Pick’ designation by IIHS reflects the design and innovation that have gone into this car to make it a practical, no-compromise electric vehicle,” reported Erik Gottfried, Nissan’s director of electric vehicle sales and marketing. “The new, U.S.-assembled 2013 Nissan LEAF provides customers with a remarkable level of value, comfort and security at prices competitive with gas-powered cars in a fun-to-drive package.”
This recognition comes shortly after a string of other successes for the LEAF. For example, the Nissan LEAF recently received standout fuel economy and range ratings from the EPA. On top of that, it was the second best-selling vehicle in all of Norway in April; U.S. sales reflected this success, as domestic sales also surged last month. Very recently, a UK police force ordered 30 brand new LEAFs, which was the largest LEAF order in the UK to date. And perhaps most exciting for consumers is the recent (and considerable) drop in price for the LEAF both here in the States and over in the UK, making electric driving even more manageable for drivers looking to make the switch.
