Even if you live in a hot area like LA, it’s important to have routine maintenance done on your car, and the seasons are a good way to schedule around it. So for all you LA residents, here’s a list of winter car maintenance tasks you should get done this season.
This is a good time to get an oil change, for one. Oil changes should be done about twice a year depending on your car and your driving habits, and before winter is a good time—maybe you’ll be traveling somewhere cold for the holidays and need that fresh, clean oil.
Another good thing to do is replace your air filters. This helps your heating and cooling system work better, but even if you’re not using those, it’s just better for your car. This also goes for flushing and refilling the cooling system.
Check your tire pressure. You won’t experience the same drop in pressure that people living in colder climates do, but any change in air temperature can have an effect. Having the right tire pressure is important year-round.

When you’re traveling on Thanksgiving, you could be going as far away as across the country or staying in your hometown. But whether you’re driving five miles or five hundred, you should always practice safe driving, and holidays are some of the most dangerous driving times of the year. Here are some tips for driving on Thanksgiving that will help you have a safe, relaxing holiday.
One thing you should make sure to do if you’re traveling long distance is inspect your car before you leave and make sure your fluids are at the right level, your lights are all working, and your tire pressure is where it’s supposed to be. A holiday is a pretty terrible day to have a breakdown.
Another thing you should do is prepare the inside of the car for the trip—make sure the GPS is programmed with the address you’re going to, snacks and games and other kid-distracting supplies are in reach, and that your luggage isn’t higher than your vehicle’s weight capacity.
Finally, when you’re actually driving, it’s important to have patience, especially because the traffic will probably be slow. Driving while angry is almost as bad as distracted driving, so don’t let yourself get mad. And keep your hands off your phone as much as possible!
These are just a few tips you can follow for safer Thanksgiving driving. Give us a call today at Nissan of Lake Charles for more, or to find the perfect Nissan vehicle for you to take on your Thanksgiving road trip.
The next-generation Nissan Frontier will be entering production fairly soon. The Nissan production facility in Canton, Mississippi was chosen to produce the midsize pickup. While there were plenty of production facilities able to produce the pickup, Nissan Canton was chosen due to its history with the Nissan Frontier.
The current-generation Nissan Frontier dates back to 2005, making it one of the oldest designs in the industry. While the styling is still fairly modern, the brand recently confirmed that a next-generation Nissan Frontier is in the works.
The Nissan Canton production facility currently builds the Nissan Titan and several other vehicles. The Nissan Frontier will be built alongside the full-size pickup. The automaker hasn’t revealed much about the truck, but details will become available as the truck’s release date approaches.
“We’ve got a very hard working and engaged workforce. We’ve got a wonderful state-of-the-art facility and Canton was the natural choice. We worked really hard to win this business,” said Steve Marsh, Nissan Canton VP of manufacturing.
The 2018 Nissan Frontier will see the addition of a Midnight Edition to its line. The Nissan Frontier Midnight Edition includes black wheels, side mirrors, and step rails. The Midnight Edition model is also available in Glacier White.
We here at Nissan of Lake Charles can’t wait to see the next-generation Nissan Frontier in person!

Emergencies happen, just as accidents do. That’s why it pays to keep an emergency kit in your vehicle. But when you’re driving a small sedan, you don’t have much space for tools that might really come in handy later. That’s one reason why a spacious SUV like the Nissan Armada is ideal for family travel. Not only is there plenty of room for your emergency kit, but there’s also lots of space left over for cargo like bicycles, sporting equipment, or extra passengers. When thinking about things to pack in your SUV, here are five things you should always keep in the back of your Nissan Armada SUV.
Having a shovel on hand can save you from getting stuck at work, school, or elsewhere in a snowstorm.
Water and Snacks
Keeping bottled water and non-perishable snacks on hand will come in handy in nearly all emergency situations.
Cat litter actually serves as the perfect, lightweight tool for traction if your SUV gets stuck.
Tow Strap or Tow Rope
A Nissan Armada from Nissan of Lake Charles can tow up to 8,500, but that’s not helpful if you don’t have the correct strap to handle the job.
It may seem just a little excessive, but if you or someone around you happens to need a fire extinguisher at some point, you’ll be grateful you have it at the ready.
