2017 Nissan Maxima Safety Ratings Designate It as One of the Best

Nissan Maxima Safety Ratings

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has spoken: the 2017 Nissan Maxima is one of the safest new vehicles on the road. In fact, the IIHS named the new Nissan Maxima—as well as the new Nissan Altima and Nissan Rogue—a “Top Safety Pick+,” the institute’s highest honor.

This means that the new Nissan Maxima scored the “Good” rating in all of the IIHS’s “Top Safety Pick” test categories and that it excelled in categories such as front crash prevention. New Maxima models with Forward Emergency Braking scored best.

Forward Emergency Braking prevents forward collisions with sensors that can tell if there is a pedestrian, another vehicle, or some other object in front of the Maxima, automatically engaging the brakes even if the driver hasn’t yet noticed the danger.

The new Nissan Maxima comes with many other automatic features, including Intelligent Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert – each of which aim to address problems that drivers may not notice.

Want to learn more about the Nissan Maxima safety ratings or perhaps even take the new vehicle out on a test drive? Contact us or simply visit us anytime at Nissan of Lake Charles.

New Nissan GT-R Comes With Free Track Time

New Nissan GT-RFree track time has become a major part of an auto enthusiast’s decision to purchase a performance-driven car, and now Nissan is jumping on board. Drivers who choose to get behind the wheel of a new Nissan GT-R will see free track time at the Virginia International Raceway. Even better, instructors will tutor drivers how to make the most of their car.

The new Nissan GT-R comes at an $8,000 increase over the previous model. That’s a substantial amount, but considering the changes it’s totally worth it! The titanium exhaust, which costs near $13,000 and the added track time, a $2,000 add-on, it’s a pretty sweet deal. The free track time applies to models purchased between November 14, 2016, and March 31, 2017.

GT-R owners can get behind the wheel and take on the Virginia International Raceway’s complicated configurations with an instructor. As you would expect, hitting the track will not void the GT-R’s factory warranty.

Owners will have to provide their own food, lodging, and transportation. Considering drivers will need to provide their own GT-R, transportation won’t be much of an issue.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the NISMO performance brand of vehicle is getting the same track-time treatment – yet.

We here at Nissan of Lake Charles are happy to see drivers getting such an incredible deal on an even more incredible car!

New Nissan Rebate Program Started in Atlanta

Nissan Zero EmissionsIf you’re a business based in Atlanta, Nissan has some good news for you—and some incentive for you to help continue Atlanta’s green car revolution. From now until June 30, 2015, Nissan and Georgia Power EV will both offer $500 to businesses for each 240V, Level 2 charger installed at their businesses. The total rebate of $1,000 is a huge boost to businesses—and helps grow the culture of green driving in Atlanta.

In fact, Nissan sells more LEAFs in the city of Atlanta than anywhere else in America, and that trend should continue with this great new Nissan rebate program. “We believe this innovation represents a significant development for Nissan LEAF and e-NV200 customers,” said Paul Willcox, chairman of Nissan Europe. Furthermore, he states that, “Every Nissan electric vehicle battery contains a power storage capability that will prove useful in contributing towards smarter and responsible management of the power demand & supply of local power grids, thus reducing our EV total cost of ownership.”

Here at Nissan of Lake Charles, we’re hopeful that this program will succeed in Atlanta and hopefully spread to many more cities in America and around the world. Of course, that will help Nissan sales with the LEAF, but we’re also excited just to see the environmental impact we can have together through all this green driving. Come see us today to learn more about how the LEAF can save you money and save the earth all at once!

Teaser Released before New Nissan Titan’s North American Auto Show Debut

The new Nissan Titan has been a long time in the making.  Nissan took a little bit of a circuitous route back to the drawing board this time—highlighted especially by the special Project Titan—but now they will finally reveal the new Titan to the nation at the upcoming 2015 Detroit Auto Show.  Nissan just released a teaser video on YouTube to promote the new truck.

The new video focuses mostly on the bones of the new truck, giving viewers a look underneath at the new frame and chassis.  Plus, there’s a sneak peek of that new Cummins V8 diesel engine—obviously, the most exciting new feature in this vehicle.  At the Titan’s North American Auto Show Debut in Detroit, we’re hoping to pry open the hood and get a better look at it ourselves.

The diesel engine will make this new Titan an even better option in the full-size truck market, which is currently finding more and more innovative ways to improve fuel economy.  While there are few details about the upcoming Titan just yet, the Cummins engine assures us it will be an affordable, customer-friendly vehicle.  Come see us at Nissan of Lake Charles to learn more.

Nissan Pulls Some Pranks with #WorldsCleanestCar LEAF

With its zero-emissions electric technology, the Nissan LEAF is already a pretty clean car, but earlier this year, Nissan showed us how it was getting even cleaner with a prototype nano-paint technology that repels dirt, oil, and water.

Now, Nissan is taking the #WorldsCleanestCar to social media with fun videos, games and interactions. In the first installment, Nissan has released “The Nissan Paint Prank” where innocent bystanders witness a paint crew “accidentally” spill paint all over the

LEAF. Lucky for them, the paint just rolls right off.

Viewers can then turn to Instagram for a fun “Guess the Mess” challenge. There, fans try to guess what liquid is being poured on the LEAF. Next, they can participate in the “Will It Stick?” game where fans can suggest things they’d like to see dumped on the LEAF and then Nissan will choose a few suggestions and try them out.

Fans can follow along with all the fun on Instagram with the hashtag #WorldsCleanestCar.

Nissan doesn’t have any plans to use this high-tech coating on production models, but is still considering it for an aftermarket option.

Will you be playing along in the #WorldsCleanestCar LEAF games?

Adam Levine in Nissan GT-R Test Drive Video

Here’s the story: Nissan challenged Adam Levine, lead singer of pop band Maroon 5. The automaker said Levine couldn’t sing while being driven around at breakneck speeds in the Nissan GT-R.  He took them up on the offer.

In the Nissan GT-R test drive video that resulted, Adam starts out sounding good, singing the first few lines to Maroon 5’s hit single, “Sugar.” He maintains control during the first burnout. However, as soon as the GT-R gets into motion, Adam can’t help but yelp a little.

For the first half of the ride, Adam manages to stay focused, though his vocal performance is peppered with nervous laughter and also the occasional howl of delight. Pretty soon, the speed and tight handling of the GT-R immobilizes his voice and he can only utter a lyric here or there. Eventually, he explicitly concedes, “I don’t even care about singing anymore. I’m just going to enjoy this!” His face is lit up with delight. At the end of the ride, he says, “I want to do it again!”

We here at Nissan of Lake Charles are sure this is what you would say if you test drive any of the great new Nissan models on our lot.

Nissan Titan’s Replacement Finally Official

Nissan TitanWe hate to point out the obvious, but we’ve been waiting for the Nissan Titan’s replacement….for a while. Like, four years awhile. We aren’t complaining though, because there is no doubt Nissan has spent that time getting it exactly right, but now – we can’t wait for the big reveal (finally)!

According to USA Today, Nissan plans to unveil the all-new pickup at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January of next year.

After a partnership with Chrysler to sell version of Chrysler’s under-development new Ram pickup fell through, Nissan was left to start from square one and develop a fully-redesigned pickup from scratch. Because the Titan was never the best-seller Nissan had hoped for, the automaker threw out pretty much everything they knew about that truck.

The large pickup is making its way to the market at an important time. There’s no room for Nissan to miss the mark on this one, with the early success of the aluminum-based 2015 F-150 and the fuel-efficient mid-size Canyon and Colorado. Nissan’s new full-size pickup will have to make a statement in order to compete in this market, and we have no doubts that’s exactly what it will do.

Here at Nissan of Lake Charles, we can hardly wait to see what Nissan will unveil – but for now, we’ll have to be patient. Is it January yet?

Nissan Earns a “Best Global Brand” Title for 2014

Nissan - Best Global Brand 2014In the new car business, as with many other businesses, appearance and reputation can be extremely important—and make a huge difference in competition. That’s why, here at Nissan of Lake Charles, we’re excited to celebrate Nissan’s latest achievement, being named a Best Global Brand for 2014. Nissan earned the title thanks to the Best Global Brands Study conducted by Interbrand, which determined that Nissan has risen in value by over one billion dollars since last year.

“Brand power is a key indicator of the health of the Nissan business and a major driver of the company’s growth,” said Roel de Vries, Nissan Corporate Vice President and global head of Marketing and Brand Strategy. “We are pleased to see a 23 percent increase in brand value from last year – nearly doubling Nissan’s brand value since its inaugural appearance on the list in 2011 – and recognition as a “top” riser in the study.”

When you’ve got a strong lineup from head to tail—from the best-selling hybrid Nissan LEAF to the popular Nissan Rogue SUV and all the way to the full-size Titan pickup—it’s much easier to build one of the world’s best brands. Of course, here at Nissan of Lake Charles, we’re not only interested in selling you on the brand overall—we want to set you up with your very own, customized Nissan vehicle today. And that’s what makes us the best.
