Production of the 2015 Nissan Murano is underway at Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant, but the automaker is still looking ahead to the future of its latest global production hub.
Nissan says it wants to produce around 507,000 vehicles annually at the plant by 2017, which would require adding around 1,000 new hourly jobs to the already sizeable staff of 6,000 in order to add capacity for more than 55,000 additional units on a yearly basis.
In order to make Canton Vehicle Assembly capable of handling the load of building the new Murano for 100 global markets, Nissan added 1,300 jobs to the plant and invested about $2.8 billion in total.
Nissan has said that it intends to produce 85 percent of all vehicles sold in the United States at its North American facilities by 2015.
The new Murano is the eighth model being built at the Canton plant alongside the Altima, Armada, Titan King and Crew Cab, Frontier King and Crew Cab, Xterra, NV Cargo, and NV Passenger. To check out these and more of Nissan’s latest and greatest, stop in and see us at Nissan of Lake Charles!
2014 Nissan Murano
The Nissan Murano blew people away with its beautiful design and excellent performance in its breath-taking first generation, and Nissan is looking to repeat that success with the upcoming third-generation Murano, which will hit the market as a 2015 model. A video titled “Aerodynamic Improvements” reveals the finished product of the 2015 Murano design team’s efforts to create a beautiful and fashionable new car.
“At Nissan, design is our brand promise, a promise that pulls people into our vehicles where they will be treated to an exciting driving experience,” Nissan senior vice president and chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura, said. “As the first of our new concept-based production vehicles coming to market, Murano sets our new standard.”
If all of these new cars will be just as beautiful as the new Murano, that will be a very good thing, according to us here at Nissan of Lake Charles. Check out the video to see how Nissan improved on the original Murano design, added elements of the popular Resonance concept, and came up with a perfect solution for today’s new car buyer.
