With DadThe Super Bowl might be the biggest night of the year for football, but it’s also become the established night for the best commercials of the year – particularly for car companies.

This year, YouTube had record numbers of viewers wanting to either re-watch the Super Bowl commercials that they loved or catch up on the ads that they missed. In fact, there was a 40 percent increase in the number of ballots who voted for their favorite commercial of the year.

The streaming website announced the winner of this year’s viewers Favorite Super Bowl Ad of 2015 title earlier this week, naming Nissan number one, with their advertisement called “With Dad,” which you can watch here on Nissan’s official YouTube channel.

Chilling Out and Other Things to do After a Car Accident

Steps after Car Accident

Drive long enough and it’s highly likely you’ve been involved in a least a fender bender.  That’s the sad truth. The good news is that the vast majority of car accidents cause no injuries and very little damage. But still, there are certain things to do after a car accident, no matter what.

First things first: chill out. Even if you have every reason to be upset, yelling at the other party or being aggressive in any way is never going to pay off. Speaking of blame, don’t ever discuss culpability. That’s for the police to decide.

Document as much as you can about the accident. Take pictures of the damage on your cell phone. As far as talking to the other driver, HowStuffWorks says that generally “you’ll need to get the other driver’s name, address, insurance company, and policy number.”

Do not deny yourself medical attention if you at all feel it is necessary. It’s best to seek treatment at the scene then anytime later when it may prove difficult to make a case that your injury is accident-related.

Accidents happen but their damage and inconvenience can be mitigated by planning and preparation.  At Nissan of Lake Charles, we want to make sure that you are taking the proper steps to keep yourself safe, before and after an accident.

Nissan’s Shiro Nakamura Receives Grand Prix du Design Award

Nissan NAIASIn honor of four decades of innovative concepts and stunning design, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.’s Shiro Nakamura, senior vice president for Design and chief creative officer, was named winner of the “Grand Prix du Design” award late last month.

The honor was bestowed during the opening gala of the International Automobile Festival, which took place in Paris on January 27.

A jury of France’s leading minds in media, commerce, and design selected Nakamura for the honor in recognition of his exceptional achievements in the world of auto design and his impact on the industry.

“I am very grateful to the jury for selecting me for this prestigious honor, but really this award should be given to my entire global design team,” Nakamura said. I am very proud of my team and their achievements, which reflects their dedication and passion for outstanding automotive design.”

Nakamura is responsible for all of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.’s vehicle design, including models under the Infiniti and Datsun brands. One of Nissan’s latest concepts, the IDx Freeflow, received a nomination for Most Beautiful Car of the Year and was on display at the gala.

Nissan on the Rise with New 2016 Altima Facelift

2015 Nissan Altima

Nissan seeks to top the field with their re-touched 2016 Altima. It’s hard to imagine how Nissan can improve on the already top selling model, however, the company announced plans to make mid cycle changes and improvements to their 2016 midsize sedan.

“We’re going to do something significant for the Altima for the midcycle,” said Pierre Loing, Nissan North America’s vice president of product planning. Although Nissan will not disclose the specific changes planned, styling improvements and technology upgrades were assured to be part of the new 2016 Altima facelift.

Nissan must be doing something right! In the past two years, the Altima has gained momentous sales by selling 335,644 new cars in 2014, an increase of 5% compared to the previous year.  They outsold Honda Accords and Toyota Camrys in December of 2014 – which must be due to the base model’s NASA inspired seats, NissanConnect audio visual display, premium finishes, and improved fuel economy.

Come visit us at Nissan of Lake Charles, where we will be happy to show you why the Nissan Altima is one of the top selling cars in its class!
