We hate to point out the obvious, but we’ve been waiting for the Nissan Titan’s replacement….for a while. Like, four years awhile. We aren’t complaining though, because there is no doubt Nissan has spent that time getting it exactly right, but now – we can’t wait for the big reveal (finally)!
According to USA Today, Nissan plans to unveil the all-new pickup at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January of next year.
After a partnership with Chrysler to sell version of Chrysler’s under-development new Ram pickup fell through, Nissan was left to start from square one and develop a fully-redesigned pickup from scratch. Because the Titan was never the best-seller Nissan had hoped for, the automaker threw out pretty much everything they knew about that truck.
The large pickup is making its way to the market at an important time. There’s no room for Nissan to miss the mark on this one, with the early success of the aluminum-based 2015 F-150 and the fuel-efficient mid-size Canyon and Colorado. Nissan’s new full-size pickup will have to make a statement in order to compete in this market, and we have no doubts that’s exactly what it will do.

The Environmental Protection Agency has released its annual fuel efficiency report and Nissan has made the biggest gains in fuel efficiency. The report compares model years 2012 and 2013. Nissan’s 2013 lineup hit an average fuel efficiency of 26.2 mph, a gain of 2.1 mpg over the previous year.
While Nissan’s average fuel efficiency doesn’t give it the most fuel-efficient lineup, it did make the biggest improvements when compared to other automakers. The report does not include electric cars, like the popular Nissan LEAF. If it did, Nissan’s average fuel efficiency would surely be even higher.
“Achieving good fuel economy is not a miracle,” says Pierre Loing, vice president of Nissan product planning, in a statement. “You need to work on weight reduction, aerodynamic and frictions [and] powertrain.”
The biggest change in fuel efficiency came from the Nissan Pathfinder, which increased its miles per gallon by 30 percent. The Altima also made big improvements with fuel efficiency ratings of 22 mpg city, 30 mpg highway—a gain of 15%.
