The New York City taxi fleet will be gaining a new member this year, with the production of Nissan’s ‘Taxi of Tomorrow’ starting this week. Based off of the current Nissan NV200, this innovative vehicle will receive a few taxi-specific tweaks, such as a panoramic sunroof, antimicrobial upholstery, grab handles and tons of lighting that will make any cab-goers experience that much better.
The Nissan NV200 taxi large interior space will leave plenty of room for large families to travel comfortably, with plenty of trunk storage for anyone off to the airport. The double sliding doors make it easy to enter on any side of the road, meaning that you won’t have to worry about exiting into traffic like you have to do with many of the van cabs currently in production. Along with awesome 24 mpg city, it is the perfect large livery service vehicle.
Though there have been some obstacles the NV200 has had to face before being included in NYC’s taxi fleet, many believe that the introduction of this cab will revolutionize taxi services nationwide while also tipping its hat to the past, prolific Checker cabs New York City was known for. It’s no secret that Lake Charles has a multitude of community events. Seemingly every week, Lake Charles packs its calendar with incredible activities for all to enjoy. Nissan has announced a first-year partnership with Apple to make the automaker the official launch partner of the all-new iTunes Radio system, and Nissan will have exclusive rights to the innovative platform through 2013.
Everyone, especially Mac users, love the entertainment that is available across their multitude of devices and now Apple is incorporating that into the 2014 Nissan Rogue. Drivers will be able to take advantage of new creative formats, including audio and video, across iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Apple TV.
“We see iTunes Radio as an integral part of our new vehicle launches and ‘big moments,’ riding the wave of interest and usage of this exciting new service to maximize exposure of Nissan’s new models,” said Jon Brancheau, vice president of Marketing for Nissan North America, in a press release. “We’re also adding iAd on iTunes Radio as a critical platform in support of ongoing campaigns, such as our college football and Heisman Trophy Tour initiatives. It’s a great way for Nissan to reach the right audiences in the right markets.”
iTunes Radio appears to be the next big Apple innovation, and Nissan is ecstatic to be the first on-board.
“We see iTunes Radio being a huge success and we look forward to delivering amazing brand experiences to this exciting new audience,” concluded Brancheau.

An artist’s muse is his most important source of inspiration—normally a stunning woman, the muse invigorates the artist’s mind, making him capable of creating beautiful art. In Nissan’s case, the relationship of artist and muse is a bit different than the norm. Rather than gorgeous women inspiring the designers behind Nissan’s vehicles, everyday items take the place of the traditional muse.
According to Francois Farion, senior manager of Nissan color and design strategy, “Objects for us designers are very important. They allow us to communicate very well our design intention and to keep that intention all along the project.”
These objects, such as a bulldog in sunglasses that inspired the Nissan Cube’s sturdy image, act as a way for designers to keep their original ideas in their heads. Some of the main 3D objects that were used as metaphors for current and concept Nissan vehicles were displayed at the Nissan 360 program for media, which runs through September 15 in Southern California. Objects on display vary from a shark fin that was behind the 370Z’s sleek shape to a motorcycle tank that influenced designers to create a similar shaped center console for the Nissan Juke.
