The concept crossover called Resonance debuted over the weekend at the 2013 North American Auto Show is getting, well, some echos back.
The Resonance, which features boldly futuristic aerodynamic styling as well as superb fuel efficiency, debuted in Detroit on January 15. The concept’s exterior design showcases Nissan’s V-Motion, an aerodynamic shape that strongly rounds the front hood and highlights the iconic boomerang-shaped headlights. The roof is of a unique “floating” design, which uses steep A-pillars and a full-length glass panel to keep the car looking long.
Inside the vehicle is a host of high-tech. The advanced instrument panel uses a generously sized console for information and entertainment, and the open glass roof makes the crossover seem even bigger.
Right now, the Resonance is strictly a design concept, being used to showcase the efficient hybrid electric drivetrain developed recently by Nissan. The all-wheel drive vehicle uses a one-motor, two-clutch system to combine gas and electric systems. This technology may be seen in later Nissan vehicles.
Nissan recently unveiled its 2013 Pathfinder, which features enhancements across the board. The new Pathfinder boasts increases in both performance and fuel efficiency, and has a plethora of new features; many of which can only be found in the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder.
As the Pathfinder enters its fourth generation, the adventure-inspired SUV clearly sets the bar for others in its class. The 2013 Nissan Pathfinder offers best-in-class fuel economy of 26 mpg highway, best-in-class interior passenger volume and best-in-class front headroom and legroom, but don’t think the 2013 Pathfinder is simply for taking the kids to the lake. With the most standard towing capacity in its class, the Pathfinder will have no problem getting the boat there too.
A slew of class exclusive features are also available in the 2013 Pathfinder, including: Xtronic CVT® transmission, 3rd row seat recline, Around View™ Monitor and Easy Fill Tire Alert System.
“The new Pathfinder carries on the tradition of the previous generations of adventure-ready Pathfinders that have come before – offering a new level of family enjoyment and engagement that is just right for today’s real-world, everyday uses,” concluded Castignetti. “After more than 25 years, Nissan is ready to tackle new terrain and the new challenges of modern family lives with the Next-Gen SUV, the 2013 Pathfinder.”
The Detroit Auto Show is one of the industry’s biggest events, and gives car manufacturers an opportunity to show off new concepts, upcoming models, and developing technology. But it’s not just about cars – OEMs also create exhibits reflective of their brands and vehicles. Nissan plans to kick it up this year by adding their own “brand smell” to the exhibit.
Edmunds.com reports that Nissan said in a statement Tuesday, “As is tradition in luxury hotels and retailers, which pipe pleasing music and fragrance into their lobby and common spaces, the Nissan display features its own special scents and sounds, carefully choreographed to create a complete experience for visitors.”
Although it’s not the first automaker to experiment with aromatherapy (Subaru piped in a pine scent about a decade ago), Nissan plans to create a signature scent that it may one day incorporate into dealership showrooms.
What’s the new scent of Nissan? The statement Edmund’s references says it’s “quite a modern smell – a bit Oriental.”

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently awarded the 2013 Nissan Altima with an award recognizing passenger vehicles for outstanding performance in five passenger safety crash tests.
The IIHS now performs front, side, rollover, and rear crash tests, as well as the small overlap frontal test, a new addition for 2013. The Altima’s high scores in every area earned it a the “Top Safety Pick Plus” designation.
“Driver and passenger safety are top priorities for Nissan, which is why we make features like Safety Shield technologies available,” said Bob Yakushi, Nissan’s director of product safety. “The 2013 Altima is truly Nissan’s most innovative Altima ever, and the ‘Top Safety Pick Plus’ designation by IIHS reflects the engineering and design that have gone into this car to make it stand out in the class.”
The Nissan Altima was also awarded a five-star safety rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration earlier this year.
